The FIFA Women’s Ranking were first introduced in the year 2003 and the rankings were first published on 16 July, of the same year. It’s a ranking system for women’s national teams in association football, led by USA as of April 2023. At the start of 2023, the ranking has 188 national teams.
The Women’s national teams of FIFA, the world governing organisation of football, are ranked according to their game outcomes, with the winningest side being ranked at the top.
The scoring for all complete international matches that FIFA recognises is determined by a points system. Numerous changes have been made to the ranking system in response to complaints that the previous methodology did not accurately reflect the relative strengths of the national teams. The Elo rating system used in chess and go has been incorporated into the ranking system as of August 16, 2018.
The FIFA/Coca-Cola World rating is also used because Coca-Cola is the sponsor of the rating. The FIFA Women’s World Cup is sponsored by Coca-Cola as well.
