Australia thrashed Canada 4-0 to take the lead in Group B, while Ireland drew Nigeria 0-0 to stay in second place. Both teams will now wait for the results of Group D, where England, China, and Denmark will battle it out to see who will finish second.
The Matildas were in control from the start, and they took the lead in the 9th minute through Hayley Raso. Raso added a second goal in the 39th minute, and Mary Fowler made it 3-0 in the 58th minute.

Canada had a few chances to get back into the game, but they were unable to break down the Matildas’ defense. A late goal from Stephanie Catley sealed the victory for Australia.
The Matildas were the better team throughout the match, and they deserved their victory. They were more clinical in front of goal, and they were also more aggressive in their pressing.
Raso was the star of the show for Australia, scoring two goals and creating several chances for her teammates. She is one of the best strikers in the world, and she showed her class against Canada.

Canada’s defense was poor in this match, and they were unable to cope with the Matildas’ attacking threat. Therefore, they are out of the tournament following losing the match while, Nigeria drawing the match against Ireland.
