ICC Announced Sachin Tendulkar as the Global Ambassador For ICC World Cup 2023
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary Indian cricketer and highest run-scorer of all time, will be the Global Ambassador for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
Tendulkar, who is also known as the “Master Blaster,” played in six World Cups during his career, and was part of the Indian team that won the tournament in 2011. He is one of the most popular and respected cricketers in the world, and his appointment as Global Ambassador is a major coup for the ICC.
Prior to the opening match of the ICC World Cup 2023, the Master Blaster will walk out with the trophy to officially open the tournament, having featured in six 50 Over World Cups during his distinguished career.
Sachin Tendulkar said in an official statement issued by the International Cricket Council that his proudest moment in his storied career was winning the ICC World Cup in 2011. Sachin Tendulkar further said :
“From being a ball boy in 1987 to representing the country in six editions, World Cups have always held a special place in my heart. Winning the World Cup in 2011 is the proudest moment of my cricketing journey.
“With so many special teams and players set to compete hard in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 here in India, I am excitedly looking forward to this fantastic tournament.
“Marquee events like the World Cup seed dreams in young minds, I hope this edition too inspires young girls and boys to pick up sports and represent their countries at the highest level.”

He is joined by nine fellow legends of the game who will bring the fans closer to the action and we can’t wait for it all to begin.”
The world’s biggest cricket tournament will also feature an array of ICC ambassadors – including West Indies captain Vivian Richards, AB de Villiers of South Africa, Eoin Morgan of England, Aaron Finch of Australia, Muttiah of Sri Lanka, Ross Taylor of New Zealand and former captain Mithali Raj of India and Mohammad Hafeez of Pakistan.
The 2023 edition of the ICC men’s World Cup will start on 5 October with England, defending champions, taking on New Zealand in the first match at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. The tournament will feature 48 matches spread across 10 venues, with the final taking place on 19 November at the world’s biggest cricket stadium.
