Sri Lanka has named its 15-man ODI World Cup squad for the 2023 edition of the tournament, which will take place in India between October 5 and November 19. The composition of the squad is balanced between youth and experience, featuring a number of promising youngsters alongside some of the nation’s most seasoned cricketers.

The squad is led by captain Dasun Shanaka, who is known for his aggressive batting and dynamic captaincy. Shanaka will be ably supported by vice-captain Kusal Mendis, who is one of the most talented batsmen in the world on his day.

Other senior players in the squad include Dimuth Karunaratne, Dhananjaya de Silva, and Dinesh Chandimal. Karunaratne is a solid opener who has a proven track record at the international level. De Silva is a versatile all-rounder who can bat in the middle order and bowl useful off-spin. Chandimal is a wicketkeeper-batsman who has been in good form in recent months.

The squad also includes a number of exciting young players, such as Pathum Nissanka, Charith Asalanka, and Dunith Wellalage. Nissanka is a talented opener who has made a big impression since making his international debut in 2021. Asalanka is a versatile all-rounder who can bat in the middle order and bowl useful leg-spin. Wellalage is a young wicketkeeper-batsman who is highly rated by Sri Lankan coaches.

The bowling attack is led by Kasun Rajitha, who is a quick and accurate right-arm bowler. Rajitha is supported by other experienced bowlers such as Lahiru Kumara, and Maheesh Theekshana. Theekshana is a particularly important player for Sri Lanka, as he is one of the best mystery spinners in the world.

On the whole, Sri Lanka’s ODI World Cup squad for 2023 is a well-balanced one. It has a good blend of senior and junior players, and is well-equipped in terms of bowling, batting and fielding. The Sri Lankan team will be aiming to make a strong run in this tournament and fight for the title.
