New Zealand announce 15-man squad for ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023

New Zealand have named their 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, with skipper Kane Williamson and fast bowler Tim Southee set to appear at their fourth tournament.

New Zealand are one of the favorites to win the Cricket World Cup 2023. They have a strong batting lineup and a world-class bowling attack. They also have a lot of experience at the highest level.

The squad also includes leg-spinner Ish Sodhi, who returns after missing the 2019 World Cup due to injury. Sodhi is joined by a number of other experienced players, including Trent Boult, Devon Conway, and Lockie Ferguson.

There is also room for some fresh faces in the squad, with 23-year-old spin-bowling all-rounder Rachin Ravindra and 26-year-old batter Mark Chapman earning their selections.

New Zealand coach Gary Stead admitted he faced some tough decisions when deciding on the final squad, but believes he has got the right mix of youth and experience to take to India.

“It’s always a special time to name a tournament team and I’d like to congratulate the 15 players selected today. It’s a great honour to represent your country at a World Cup,” Stead said.

“From Kane and Tim heading to their fourth tournament to the guys selected for the first time it’s always a very exciting time.”

“As with any squad named for an ICC tournament, there have been some tough calls and there will be some disappointed players.”

“The key for us was finding the right balance for the squad and making sure we had our bases covered for what is going to be a very competitive tournament.”

New Zealand’s World Cup 2023 Chances

However, New Zealand will face some stiff competition from other teams, such as England, India, and Australia. These teams also have very strong squads.

Ultimately, New Zealand’s chances of winning the World Cup will depend on how well they perform on the day. If they can play to their potential, they will be very difficult to beat.
