On Sunday (July 30), Germany will host Colombia in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Germany opened their campaign with a 6-0 thrashing of Morocco last week.
Alexandra Popp scored a brace in the first half and the Moroccans scored two own goals in the second half to make it the largest margin of victory on the first day of the tournament.
In Group H, Colombia beat Korea Republic 2-0 with Catalina Usme scoring first-half goals and Lina Caicedo finishing off the scoring in the second half. Germany and Colombia are now joint top of the group with three points each. Germany leads on goal difference.

Germany women are the second-favorites to win the World Cup after the United States, and their victory over Morocco was a clear indication of their intent. If they win, they will qualify for the knockout stages, as long as Morocco and the Republic of Korea play to a draw.
Colombia women also scored a hat-trick in their first game, but will face a much more formidable opponent in their second. The Powerpuff girls are looking to make it to the knockouts for the first time in their history, and anything more than a draw would be a huge achievement for them.
The Germans will be full of confidence after their impressive start to the tournament, and Martina Wiedenfels’ team should be able to get a straightforward victory and keep a clean sheet as well.
